This summer my friend Sue and I went to Dublin. We went there by plane on Friday morning. We were there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. We stayed in a hotel in a room with a beautiful view. We saw the sea from our window. Our friend Mike lives in Dublin and he took us round the city.
Every morning we got up at eight o"clock and had breakfast. We had eggs and bacon and then toast and coffee. On Saturday we visited the Art Gallery and Trinity College. In the evening we went to a French restaurant. On Sunday we went to the Wicklow mountains in Mike"s car. We got back late and cooked a meal at Mike"s house.
On Monday morning we went to Phoenix Park and we played tennis. Then in the afternoon we took the plane home. We had a really good time.

How I Spent My Weekend
I am a schoolgirl, I study 5 days a week, so I get really tired by Friday and look forward to having a weekend. I believe everybody needs rest to be productive at school or work. I usually spend my weekend with my friends. We watch films, walk in the park, visit some exhibitions or chat at a cafe. Sometimes I want to be alone for a while, so I just read books in my room.
But this weekend was different. My mother had her birthday on Saturday. On Friday evening my sister and I went shopping. We bought our mother a present - a beautiful scarf she always wanted. Then we went to the florist`s and bought 7 white roses - mum`s favourite flowers. We hid the present and the flowers in the room. On Saturday morning we got up early and decorated the flat. Mother loved the present and the flowers.
After that, we helped mum to cook delicious meals and to lay the table. At 4 p.m. the guests arrived. Some of them came with their children. After the celebration dinner, we listened to music, played games and had interesting conversations. When it got dark, we went outside and lit fireworks.
On Sunday we also had lots of work. We had to clean the flat after the party. Then we did our homework and in the evening we got very tired. But I still enjoyed this weekend very much. Our mom was happy and grateful and made new friends!

I have always been wondering what it means, «the day off.» If we can do what we really want to do only once a week and fail to find any time for our hobbies during the other six days of the week, it means there is something wrong with time planning. We often repeat proverbs like «The busiest men find the most time» but it is still difficult to find a minute to spare on week days. It seems to me that if we really value our time, we can always find at least half an hour a day for our favourite occupations. Unfortunately, I am unable to do this myself, and Saturdays and Sundays are my favourite days of the week because these are the days of relaxation when I can do all pleasant things I have dreamt about during the week.
During the weekend
I can enjoy myself and do whatever I like but from Monday till Saturday I have almost no spare time.
My days off are Saturday and Sunday. I always look forward to my weekend
. I cannot say that I am a heavy sleeper but as I get very tired during the week I let my self sleep a little longer at the weekend
. I usually get up at about ten o’clock and go to the bathroom where I have a shower, clean my teeth and brush my hair.
Then I go to the kitchen and help my mother lay the table. On Sundays my parents sleep a bit longer too, that is why we have neither breakfast nor lunch but brunch. All of us like porridge and fried eggs for breakfast, but I prefer apple juice and my parents-coffee with milk.
After brunch my father does the washing up and my mother and I do the flat. As a rule it takes us about an hour and a half as we have only two rooms. We do not need to go shopping on Sunday as my mother does it on Saturday. So after twelve o’clock I am free to do whatever I like.
People spend their days off in different ways. Some of them prefer to stay at home and read a book or visit an art exhibition, a museum or a sport event. In the evening, as a rule, they go to a theatre or to see their friends. Other people prefer to spend their days off out of town.
As for me I also like to spend my days off in the country. I go in for sports, that is why on Sunday I go to the tennis court and play tennis for about two hours. I have been playing tennis since my 8th form and I can say that it helps me relax and feel well during thewhole week. On my way home I usually drop in at the confectioneryand buy a cherry cake because we are used to having something tasty for dinner.
Sunday is the only day when we have dinner together. That is one of the reasons why I like Sundays.
All of us like nature and are fond of walking. After dinner we are used to going to the park which is near our house. It is very pleasant to walk there. We enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful scenery around us. While walking we usually discuss the books we have read, the films we have watched recently and ask each other a lot of questions about our life, work and studies.
After coming home we either watch TV or play different games, chess for example. At eight o’clock we have light supper, usually some vegetables. My mother is very good at making different salads.
After supper we read books. We have a good library at home. My father is fond of reading historical novels because he is interested in history. My mother is indifferent to such kind of books. She prefers detective stories. As for me I like science fiction very much.
At ten o’clock on Sunday I start preparing for the academy as I am always short of time on Monday morning. At eleven o’clock I go to bed because I have to get up early next morning.

My name is Andrew, I am fourteen years old. I would like to tell you about my day off.
Sunday is my favorite day of the week, because it is not necessary to get up early and go to school.
On Sunday I get up later than usually, make my bed, go to the bathroom, wash my face and clean my teeth. Then we have breakfast all together. On Sunday my mother usually bakes pancakes, they are very delicious. We drink tea or coffee and eat pancakes with jam. After breakfast I help my mother to clear the table and wash the dishes.
Then I go outside to play with my friends. In winter we go skiing. In summer my father and I go to the swimming pool, especially when it is very hot.
At one o’clock we have dinner.
After dinner we have a short rest. My father goes to his study and reads newspapers. My mother watches TV, my younger sister sleeps. I usually go to my room, read a book, listen to music or do my homework for the next week.
In the evening we go to the park all together. It’s very big and beautiful. There are a lot of different park amusements there. My sister and I like to go on the rides very much or just go for a walk with our parents. Our mother and father often buy us candy floss or popcorn. Then we go to a café and order the biggest pizza. We eat, talk and laugh.
We come home at ten o’clock in the evening, satisfied, tired and very happy that we have had such a wonderful day off.

The whole week I study intensely at school, so I look forward to my only free day. We help them in the garden and I clean their house, because they are quite old. On warm days my dad makes barbecue and we have our lunch outside enjoying fresh air. I like to spend time there — my granny knows a lot of exciting stories – about times when she worked as a geologist, visited many countries and met many interesting people.
In the evening we go home. If I don"t have much homework to do for Monday, I prefer to meet with my friends. We go to a cafe or cinema. Last Sunday we watched the movie “Arrival” at the cinema, I was so impressed by it.
But every Sunday I remember that the next day I have to go to school and count days till next day off.
